Not everyone has heard of the Canadian company Lion Electric – it is a young manufacturer of electric vehicles. At the same time, it is a leader in the production of electric school buses. In addition to them, the company Lion Electric produces trucks, the latest of which is Lion8 Tractor. This, the electric tractor is what we will talk about today.
So far, Lion 8 Tractor has not yet gone into mass production. The beginning of sales is expected in the middle of 2024. The main sales market for this tractor should be the United States. I suspect that this tractor will be assembled in the United States, at a new plant in Illinois. The area of the new plant is 900,000 square feet. There, the hands of 745 workers should produce 20,000 trucks and buses a year.
According to Lion Electric’s CEO, Mark Bedard, the Lion8 Tractor should push the boundaries of what’s possible in modern trucking.

The power of the electric motor is 500kWt, which is equivalent to 670 horsepower. The maximum torque is 2200N.M. The 630 kilowatt battery provides a range of 275 miles (440 km). Top speed is 70 miles.
This is an electric, cabover tractor with a large, sleeping compartment. The exterior of this vehicle is much more traditional than the Tesla Semi with the driver’s seat in the middle. Well, we will continue to follow the trucks and buses from Lion Electric with interest.
